Extra Insurance

Recently I rented a car and I had previously read that if you carry insurance on your car that you drive then there is no need to take out insurance on a rental car that you use for a couple of days. With that being said, on my travel I made sure to decline the extra insurance option. I was quite appalled then to see that the rental company went ahead and charged for this service. I quickly made a phone call to the company and they reversed the charges but I though this was a little criminal and I wonder how many people miss this extra charge.
