Communications and Public Courtesy
July 31, 2008 on 7:15 pm | By admin | In TechnologyI am not a technology oriented person. I often say to people that I was born 50 years too late! I don’t like all of those gadgets. It seems that the more we have them, the less we actually talk with people face-to-face. This bothers me. One of the bigger bothers for me is going to a public place and listening to everyone’s mobile phone going off in the middle of a restaurant as an example. Not only do you hear rings of different tones and volumes, you also have to listen to musical tunes. In my youth and early adulthood, only physicians and perhaps lawyers were identified publicly by a pager. Mobile phones simply hadn’t come about. It would be really sweet if the owners of mobile phones switched them to "vibrate" when in public places out of public courtesy to everyone else - especially those people like me who don’t have a mobile phone.
