Wireless carriers use their data to maintain and optimize their networks, but this information can also be converted into speed and travel time information for any roadway that has cell phone coverage and does a reverse cell phone search.  The increasing popularity of wi-fi comes on the heels of the explosive growth in wireless mobile telephones, and amid heightened concerns over the health hazards of saturating levels of electromagnetic radiation.  The new rule that takes effect November 24 allowing users to change wireless companies without losing their phone numbers is expected to motivate as many as 30 million people to switch within the first year.
