I have been an educated for a very long time.  And one of my favorite things to see is a student who takes on an assignment and does more with it than is expected.  There is a certain level of risk that is involved, but it shows that they are more than interested in it for the grade.  I have a few students this year interested in chemistry science fair projects.  This is not mandatory for them, but they are doing it anyway.  I am wanting them to do as much as they want, and am making sure that they have all they need to do it.
