Rainy day equals romantic photos for the bridal party.

November 10, 2009 on 7:57 am | By admin | In Arts

Even though it rained the day of Maggie and Tom’s wedding, they still got some great bridal party photos.  The photographer led everyone to a bridge and set up a great shot with the rain falling down, just outside the shelter above.  You would think rain would spoil something so traditional but it really made the photo very romantic, especially in black & white.  The bride and groom used an umbrella in some of the photos too, that gave everything a real cozy feeling.  So, don’t let a little rain spoil your big day!

Which Beginner Singing Lessons Software Works?

November 2, 2009 on 12:26 pm | By admin | In Arts

Which beginner singing lessons software is the top option for a growing singer?  I would advise the first thing you look for in a program is how to breathe correctly.  It had a profound effect on my singing when I started breathing from the diaphragm because everything was easier, such as singing vibrato.  In addition, you don’t have to try as hard to sing and your throat doesn’t strain as much.  In short, you’re starting to sing correctly with the diaphragm instead of the upper chest, which causes a lot of strain.  Yes, you learn all of this just by breathing correctly as a singer.  Breathing may sound simplistic, but trust me, most singers need instruction on breathing correctly.

Punk Rocker Goes Country

I like to play bass guitar. I have an older bass, I got it when I was in college 3 years ago. I’m getting a little tired of playing just rock songs though. I went out and bought me an acoustic guitar about a month ago. So now I just need to find some country guitar lessons online. I know that the basics of an acoustic guitar and bass guitar are the same, but the music is totally different. I can’t let my friends hear me playing either, they’ll think I’m going to quit the band and start playing country. I don’t think so, I like our music!

Learning How to Use Your Chest Voice in Singing

October 22, 2009 on 5:37 am | By admin | In Arts

You want to learn singing with chest voice because it can really make you sound great.  You can sing without using your diaphragm like you talk most of the time, but you’re going to wear out your vocal chords and start straining.  You can also incorporate falsetto into your voice to give yourself more dynamics.  Chest voice is utilizing other cavities in your body you may not be used to using while singing.  Singing from the diaphragm also gives a different resonance while singing.  Those great sounds coming from chambers in your body so it’s very complex when you consider everything that creates your true singing voice.

About to Graduate

I’m about two months away from getting my degree, and I am so excited to go out and find my first job! I’ve worked so hard to get to this point, and I’ve learned so much in the past four years. I’ve already sent my resume out to the top Graphic Design Marketing Agency in the area, and I’m looking for others as well. I absolutely love what I do and can’t imaging doing anything else for a living. I certainly look forward to getting more sleep than I’ve been getting in college, and having a salary with benefits sounds like a good time. I’m hoping that within the next few years, I’ll be winning design awards and having college students looking up to me!

Candles at the Craft Fair

September 25, 2009 on 4:57 am | By admin | In Arts

The craft fair was wonderful this year.  One of my favorite products was the gel candles.  The lady was making gel candles right there using a melting pot.  You could personalize the candle just how you wanted.  She had choices of color and fragrances you could chose from.  Then, she had all these little wonderful items you could add to the candle.  She had wax fruit, little glass Christmas ornaments or new baby ornaments.  She also had glitter and beautiful marbles.  My girls loved watching her add these items to the candles.  We came back a while later and they were ready for us to take home.  The best thing is I believe we have found a new hobby.

Can I Get Cash for Unwanted Gold?

September 5, 2009 on 3:55 pm | By admin | In Arts

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about taking my gold jewelry in to exchange for cash. The truth is I never wear it, and gold prices are higher, everyday, in the market. There’s several jewelry stores I pass everyday that offer cash for gold, and they’ve been around for a long time so I feel they must be trustworthy. Here in Indiana Gold Exchange is becoming more common with all my friends and I’m starting to see why. I get rid of the stuff I no longer wear and I get money in my pocket. I think it may be a good time.

I Really Want to Learn and Play Piano

August 30, 2009 on 2:30 pm | By admin | In Arts

Sixth grade arrived—my first chance to join the band. At last I would learn and play piano. My friends erupted, “This is marching band, you twerp! You can’t play piano in a marching band.” Devastated, I sat down with the others and waited. The director’s first question was, “What instrument will you play?”  I had no idea what I would say. I heard the answers circle the room: trumpet, clarinet, drums, etc. One smart guy said, “Triangle”. When my turn came, I quietly said, “I really want to learn and play piano.” The director went on to the next kid. I was shocked. He hadn’t said “Not in this band.”  Turns out that the band needed a keyboardist (piano player). I was in heaven.
