There are plenty of rental cars in Christchurch Believe me. I know from first hand experience. In fact I have been surprised at the quality of the cars and the low prices they come at. IN fact affordable is the word I would use. My family needed a car to drive from Picton to Christchurch and we had no problems finding one and driving down the beautiful Kaikora coastline. Rental and hire cars are widely used in Christchurch, since the Garden City is one of the main tourist centers in the South Island. We got our car and drove off with minimum fuss and had everything we needed for our tour.
